Book Week Parade Tomorrow – Tuesday 25 August, 9:00am

Reminder for Prep–Year 6 families: the Book Week dress-up parade is tomorrow morning on the Main Oval. Costume rules, what to pack, Book Fair hours and the awards assembly.

A quick reminder that the Junior School Book Week dress-up parade is on tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August 2026 at 9:00am on the Main Oval. This year's theme is Stories Light the Way, and we can't wait to see the characters who turn up at the gate. Parents, grandparents and younger siblings are very welcome to watch from the Oval boundary. See the full Book Week 2026 page for the week's program.

Parade details

  • When: Tuesday 25 August 2026, 9:00am start (students go straight to classrooms as normal at 8:45am, then walk to the Oval with their teacher).
  • Where: Main Oval. Wet weather: Mary MacKillop Hall, with limited standing room for parents.
  • Who: Prep to Year 6. Each class parades once; the whole event takes about 40 minutes.

Costume rules

  • Dress as a character from a book you love. Simple, home-made costumes are perfect.
  • Not permitted: toy weapons of any kind, face paint, or masks that cover the face.
  • Students may stay in costume until recess (10:45am) and then change into school uniform. Please pack full winter uniform and school shoes in your child's bag.
  • Wear sensible footwear for the walk to the Oval.

Book Fair

The Book Fair is open in the Library all week, Monday 24 – Friday 28 August 2026, 8:15–8:45am and 3:20–4:00pm. Cash and card accepted. Every purchase earns books for our Library.

Rest of the week

  • Thursday 27 August 2026: visiting author Meg Ellery works with Years 3–6.
  • Friday 28 August 2026, 2:30pm: Book Week awards (best costume, class reading challenge) presented at the Junior Assembly in the Hall. Parents welcome.
