Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences are three-way conversations about learning: the student shares work and goals, the teacher describes progress against the mid-year report, and parents ask questions and share what they see at home. Because students take an active part, we ask that your child attends with you (Years 3–6) or, for Prep–Year 2, that you attend with or without your child as you prefer.

Years 5 and 6 – Thursday 27 August 2026

Friday interschool sport, OSHC and Homework Club run as normal on Thursday 27 August; OSHC families should book care through to their interview time if needed.

How to book – step by step

1. Log in to the Parent Portal (web or the St Mary's Connect app) using your family login. If you have forgotten your password, use "Forgot password" or phone the office on (03) 9555 0100.
2. From the home screen choose Interviews.
3. Select the event Year 5 & 6 Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences – Thursday 27 August 2026.
4. Your Year 5 and 6 children are listed with their classroom teacher. Click Book next to the teacher's name.
5. Choose an available time. Green slots are free; grey are taken. If you have two children in Years 5–6, leave at least one slot (10 minutes) between bookings to walk between rooms.
6. Tick I need a 15-minute slot if your child has an ILP or you have a significant concern to discuss.
7. Click Confirm. You will receive an email confirmation immediately and an SMS reminder at 9:00am on Thursday 27 August.
8. To change or cancel, return to Interviews and choose Reschedule or Cancel before bookings close at 12:00pm on Wednesday 26 August. After that time, phone the Junior Office and we will do our best to help.

Separated families can each book a separate time with the same teacher; both parents' Portal logins are linked to the student. If you need an interpreter, tick the interpreter box when booking or phone the office by Monday 24 August.

Missed the deadline or cannot attend?

Teachers will phone families who have not booked by Wednesday 26 August to offer a time in the following week. If you are unable to come in person, request a phone or video conference at the time of booking by ticking Phone/online – the teacher will call you at your booked time.

Prep – Year 4

Prep to Year 4 conferences for 2026 were held on Thursday 18 June 2026 (Term 2, Week 9) following the mid-year report. These are not repeated in Term 3. Parents of Prep–Year 4 students who would like to meet their teacher at any time can email the teacher directly or book through the Junior Office; teachers are generally available before school from 8:15am or after school from 3:30pm by appointment.

Term 4 optional meetings

After the end-of-year reports are published on Wednesday 16 December 2026, teachers are available for optional meetings on Thursday 17 December 2026, 3:30pm – 5:30pm, for any family who wishes to discuss the report or their child's transition to the next year level. These are booked through the Portal from Wednesday 16 December. Parents of students with an ILP have a Term 4 Program Support Group meeting instead – see Learning Support.

Getting the most from 10 minutes

• Read the Semester 1 report beforehand and note two or three questions.
• Ask your child what they would like to show or talk about.
• Focus on the big picture: how is my child going in reading, writing and maths? Are they happy and making friends? What can we do at home?
• If a concern needs longer than 10 minutes, ask for a follow-up meeting rather than running over – teachers will happily arrange one.
