Father's Day 2026 — Stall & Breakfast
Father's Day Stall for Prep–Year 6 on Friday 28 August 2026 ($5–$15 gifts, cash in a named envelope) and the free Father's Day Breakfast on Thursday 3 September 2026, 7:15–8:30am in the Hall — RSVP by Monday 31 August.
Father's Day falls on Sunday 6 September 2026, and the P&F is marking it with two favourite traditions: the Father's Day Stall for Junior School students on Friday 28 August, and the Father's Day Breakfast for the whole College community on Thursday 3 September. Dads, grandfathers, step-dads, uncles and the other special people in our children's lives are all celebrated — we simply call it Father's Day for short.
Father's Day Stall — Friday 28 August 2026
Who: Prep to Year 6 students. Where: Mary MacKillop Hall foyer. When: classes visit on a roster between 9:00am and 1:00pm, so every child gets a turn before lunch.
- Gifts are priced from $5 to $15: mugs, socks, BBQ tools, keyrings, car-care kits, chocolates, hand-made soaps, "World's Best Dad" bits and pieces. Volunteers help younger children choose within their budget, and everything is gift-wrapped on the spot.
- Please send cash in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child's name, class and the amount enclosed. There are no card facilities at the stall. Change is given, so exact money is not essential.
- Children may buy more than one gift — for a grandfather, a step-dad or a sibling to give — as long as the money is in the envelope. Write a note on the envelope if you would like a helper to steer them to a second gift.
- Gifts come home in school bags on Friday 28 August — a good day to check bags before your child does!
- Prep–Year 2 teachers keep the envelopes safe from the morning; Years 3–6 hand theirs over at the stall.
- A small leftover stall runs at 3:20pm on Friday for anyone who was away.
Helpers needed: 8:30am–1:15pm, in one-hour shifts or the whole morning. Stall helpers work with students, so a Working with Children Check and the online induction are required — see Volunteering & WWCC. Sign up on the Parent Portal under Forms > "Father's Day Stall helpers".
Father's Day Breakfast — Thursday 3 September 2026
When: 7:15–8:30am. Where: Mary MacKillop Hall. Cost: free — with thanks to the P&F and a generous parent-owned butcher.
- Menu: egg and bacon rolls, with vegetarian, halal and gluten-free options available (please note dietary needs when you RSVP); orange juice; tea and coffee. The Brew Brothers coffee van will be parked outside the Hall from 7:00am for barista coffee — purchase, not included.
- Who is welcome: students from Prep to Year 12 with their dad, grandfather or a special adult. Mums are welcome to come along too, though this morning is really for the dads. Students in Prep–Year 2 must stay with their adult at all times.
- RSVP: via the Parent Portal > Events > Father's Day Breakfast by Monday 31 August 2026 so we cater accurately. Please RSVP for each adult and each child attending.
- Photo booth: a photographer will be taking photos near the stage from 7:15am; photos will be shared on the Portal (media consent settings apply).
- Short blessing by Fr Michael Dwyer at 8:00am.
- Getting to class: Junior students walk to their classrooms with their teachers at 8:35am for the 8:45am start; Senior students head to Homeroom at 8:40am. Adults are welcome to stay and finish their coffee.
- Parking: the Main car park (off Chapel Road) will fill early; the Sports Centre car park off Convent Lane is open as overflow from 6:45am. Please do not park in the Kiss-and-Drop zone, which operates from 8:15am, or in the Staff car park. See Kiss-and-Drop & Parking.
If your child does not have a dad or father figure able to attend, teachers are aware and children are welcome to come with any adult, or to join a table hosted by Mr Tom Brennan and Mr David Okafor — no one misses out on a bacon roll. Questions to pandf@stmaryswc.vic.edu.au. More P&F events are listed on the Parents & Friends page.
