Training Timetable

One master weekly table of every St Mary's College sport training session, Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon: sport, time, venue, coach and season, plus Junior Friday sport, transport notes and where to check cancellations.

Updated 24 August 2026· For Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, Year 11, Year 12

This is the master training timetable for all College sport. Times and venues are fixed for the year; the "Season" column tells you which terms each session runs. Individual sport pages have coach contacts, team lists and fixtures. Sessions marked with an asterisk (*) run before school. Term 3 2026 is currently in progress: all winter-sport sessions and the swimming, cross country and athletics squads are running; cricket resumes in Term 4 and Friday tennis is currently an open coaching session.

Morning sessions — practical notes

  • Swimming: parents drop swimmers at the Aquatic Centre by 6:40am; a College bus returns swimmers to the College at 8:00am. Pool entry $95 per term. See Swimming Squad.
  • Basketball: the Sports Centre side door opens at 6:50am. Students shower and change into school uniform by 8:30am.
  • Cross country: meet at the Main Oval scoreboard at 7:15am. Junior runners are walked to the Junior yard at 8:10am for supervision from 8:15am.
  • Morning-training students are covered by staff supervision from the start of their session; they should not arrive before 6:40am (swimming, at the Centre) or 6:50am (on campus). The Harbour Café opens at 8:00am for breakfast.

Afternoon sessions — practical notes

  • Students change at 3:25pm and are at their venue by 3:30pm. Sessions finish at the time shown; students are collected from the Chapel Road Kiss-and-Drop zone or catch the 5:10pm late bus (Routes A and B; casual fare $8, or bus pass) — see School Buses & Transport.
  • Junior-age Senior students (Years 7–8) finish 15 minutes early in netball, football and volleyball.
  • Students not collected by 5:15pm wait at the Senior office; the office closes at 4:30pm, so late collection is arranged with the coach. OSHC after care (3:15–6:15pm, Hall Annexe) is available for Years 5–6 athletics and cross country participants by booking — see OSHC.
  • Hockey students may be collected from the Wattle Creek Hockey Centre at 5:00pm instead of returning on the bus (Portal option).

Clashes

Many students play two sports. Coaches expect students to attend at least one session a week for each team; tell both coaches which sessions you will attend. Students in the swimming squad or cross country squad who also play a team sport are not expected at the afternoon session on days they trained in the morning if they have a Learning Hub assessment due. Music ensembles (Concert Band Thursday 7:30am, Junior Band Friday 7:45am, String Ensemble Monday 3:30pm, Senior Chamber Choir Wednesday 3:30pm) take priority over training in performance weeks — the Directors of Sport and Music resolve clashes together; see Ensembles.

No-training days in Term 3 and Term 4 2026

  • Friday 4 September (Junior Athletics Carnival) — no Friday NDPSA sport; tennis training proceeds
  • Tuesday 8 September (Senior Athletics Carnival) — no afternoon football training
  • Friday 11 September (House Spirit Day) — Junior sport finals proceed; swimming squad's last Term 3 session
  • Friday 18 September (last day of term, 2:30pm dismissal) — no afternoon training except tennis trials 2:45–4:15pm
  • Monday 2 November (student-free day) and Tuesday 3 November (Melbourne Cup) — no training
  • Training does not run in school holidays

Cancellations

Weather cancellations for training are posted on the Learning Hub team page and sent by SMS by 2:00pm (afternoon sessions) or 6:00–6:30am (morning sessions). See Extreme Weather & Cancellations.
